Located in the scenic Charlotte Harbor area of Punta Gorda, Florida, Burnt Store Marina is a luxurious waterfront sanctuary featuring private villas and condominiums—including the exclusive Prosperity Pointe development. A community swimming pool on a private island is connected by a pedestrian bridge and supported by a 25yearold wooden bulkhead that had begun to fail, threatening safety and structural stability.
Seawall Savers™ was engaged to deliver a durable, modern seawall solution that ensured long-term reliability for residents while preserving the aesthetic integrity of the marina environment.
Partnering with Rube Clausen Consulting and ECP Helical Foundations Systems, the team designed:
▲ 1½″ squareshaft helical piles, each with triple-helix lead sections (8″/10″/12″) capable of handling dynamic load demands of the new Trueline vinyl seawall.
These anchors ensured sufficient holding power for lateral and tensile forces exerted on the island pool’s retaining structure.
Preparation & Mobilization
▲ Partial dismantling of pedestrian bridge sections enabled barge access to the island.
▲ Nearby utility lines were relocated to eliminate obstruction and risk—paving the way for safe pile placement.
Helical Pile Installation
Using a Caterpillar 311 excavator with a 10K ProDig hydraulic drive, Seawall Savers™ installed:
▲ 78 helical tie-back anchors, each with triple-helix lead sections (8″/10″/12″) capable of handling dynamic load demands of the new Trueline vinyl seawall.
▲ Each pile was tested and monitored using a Digital Torque Indicator, capped with a galvanized 7″ x 7″ termination to secure the seawall structure.
Quality Control & Monitoring
▲ A full-time Quality Control Officer ensured seamless execution throughout.
▲ Socotec Engineering conducted pile certification.
▲ Load-bearing capacity of each pile (36 KPS) was verified to meet engineering standards.
▲ Efficient Use of Tight Space: Helical piles enabled installation in limited-access zones without heavy machinery.
▲ Specialized Hydraulic Equipment: Ensured accurate placement and consistent torque control, crucial for structural safety.
▲ Environmental Preservation: No excavation or soil removal—keeping the lake and landscape pristine.
▲ Load Testing and Safety Assurance: Torque monitoring and validation provided peace of mind.
▲ Long-Term Stability: Embedded into fractured limestone, the piles offer a lifetime foundation.
▲ Minimal Disruption: Quiet installation preserved the residents’ peace and day-to-day experience.
The success of the Prosperity Pointe bulkhead project exemplifies how Seawall Savers™ solves complex marine infrastructural challenges with advanced, respectful engineering. The use of helical tie-back anchorsprovided a practical, low-impact, high-durability solution, bolstering safety and functionality for years to come.
Seawall Savers™ continues to uphold its reputation as a marine industry leader—combining technical excellence with environmental care.
They offer soil anchoring without excavation, ideal for restricted-access sites like Privatized Island pools.
Installation causes minimal disturbance and leaves the surrounding area and marine ecosystem intact.
It validates each pile’s load-bearing capacity, guaranteeing safety and structural performance.
With periodic inspections, it should remain structurally sound for decades—requiring minimal upkeep.
No—the deeply embedded helical piles are unaffected by waves, storms, or high tides.
The Prosperity Pointe bulkhead replacement presented unique obstacles that required innovative engineering:
